DREAM THEATER’S DREAMSONIC TOUR 2023
In July 26, 2026 it was time for Dream Theater’s Dreamsonic Tour to come to an end since this was the last date for the tour. They would bring along Devin Townsend and Animals As Leaders, who were the support on this tour run.
The opening band was Animals As Leaders, and they are musically one of the best bands I have seen. They do need a better stage presence, there was barely any interaction with the crowd or audience. I felt they were a bit boring in my opinion because of that. Maybe someone that is into instrumentals or guitar solos would think differently.
Next up was Devin Townsend and he got the crowd hyped up. He and his band were the complete opposite of Animals As Leaders, where the interaction with the crowd really made a difference. In between songs Devin was joking around and having the crowd participate.
I enjoyed his progressive metal sound and vocals that resonated throughout the entire theater.
Some notable songs that were played this night were “Kingdom”, “By Your Command”, “Truth” and “Bad Devil”. The band wore big cowboy hats during their last song, which made it fun to end their set.
Finally, it was time for the progressive metal masters, Dream Theater, to take the stage. I was looking forward to seeing them because everyone that had seen them said they are one of the best live bands.
The band opened their set with the songs “The Alien” and “Sleeping Giant” which are taken from the latest release “A View From The Top of the World” which was released in 2021. Seeing guitarist John Petrucci, bass player John Myung, drummer Mike Mangini, and keyboardist Jordan Rudess was a treat. They all played some amazing solos which captivated the entire audience.
Other notable songs that were this final night were “Caught in a Web”, “Solitary Shell”, “Pull Me Under”, and they ended their set with “Act II: Scene Eight: The Spirit Carries On” taken from the masterpiece record “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory”. This song would be joined by Devin Townsend and Animals As Leaders.
I was glad to have seen the last show of this amazing tour, and cannot wait to see them all return to Arizona sooner than later.
