THE DARKNESS COVERAGE TEMPE AZ AT MARQUEE THEATRE

On March 12th, 2022 It was time for The Darkness to return to Arizona, and this show did not disappoint all the fans that came out. This night there was also an opening band called The Dead Deads, and I had not heard of them before or who they were. I was coming in not knowing anything about this band, but I was very excited to see them perform.

It was time for the show to begin, and The Dead Deads took the stage. Three young ladies came out and started playing their respective instruments, and my first reaction was very positive. They reminded me of a very classic punk rock n’ roll band,  if you were to mix KISS with Joan Jett you would get this band. They played for about thirty minutes or so, by the time the band ended their performance I became a fan. I cannot wait to see them again and come back to Arizona to kick some butt.

It was time finally time for The Darkness to come out and take the stage, and I could not wait to see them. This was my very first time seeing The Darkness perform, and I was talking to other people in the crowd that had seen them before I found out that they put on amazing performances. I still remember picking up their debut album “Permission To Land” in 2003 from my local Tower Records store, and I was blown away by what I heard. I could not stop listening to that album, as it became one of my favorite albums of that year.

The Darkness opened up their set with a song called “Welcome Tae Glasgae”, followed by “One Way Ticket” and “Growing On Me”, which I remembered was on their debut album. I loved how every single member in the band was super energetic, and getting the crowd hyped. The lead singer/guitarist, Justin Hawkins, saw that there were kids in the crowd and said their parents were raising them well. I love seeing parents bring their kids to concerts, it is very cool to see them enjoy that kind of music. The band played a lot of their catalog including “Givin’ Up”, “Heart Explodes”, which on this very song the band brought their guitar tech to play the song with them. It is awesome to see bands give praise to their crew members and make them part of their show.  Other songs that followed were “Solid Gold”, “Barbarian” and of course they ended with “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”.  The band’s stage performance and sound reminded me of AC/DC and Queen, and that is my personal opinion of course. I could not wait to see these guys come back again, they put an amazing performance. I wish them the best in their future endeavors.
