KNOTFEST ROADSHOW TOUR 2021 11-2-2021
On this memorable night, Slipknot and friends finally returned to Phoenix AZ after all the concert delays, and it was an amazing concert. Code Orange, Fever 333, and Killswitch Engage were the other three bands playing alongside the mighty ‘Knot.
To open the show it was time for Code Orange to take the stage, and I was excited to see them perform. They opened their set with “Swallowing The Rabbit Hole”, a song that gained my interest. Other notable songs they played were “Bleeding The Bur” and “Forever”. This was my first time seeing the band play and I liked what I saw and it got the crowd hyped up. They closed their set with the song “Underneath”.
The band Fever 333 was next to play, and it was also my first time seeing them play. The song “Bite Back” was the opening track for the show, and their sound reminded me of an early 2000s rap-metal band but with a modern sound which I liked. Other songs they played were “Made in America” and “Trigger”. I was impressed with the early 2000s sound and hopefully, I can see them again soon, glad they were put on this tour.
Killswitch Engage was up next, and I could not wait to see these guys again. I have not seen them since 2010, at the time Howard Jones was still the lead singer for the band. This is going to be my first time seeing Jesse since his return with the band, and he killed it that night. “Unleashed” was the song that opened their set, and as soon as the song started the crowd rose from their seats and cheered the band on. The band played songs from most of their albums, some of the songs they played were “Hate By Design”, “My Last Serenade”, “Rose Of Sharyn”, “My Curse” and “The End Of Heartache”. I do not know why I waited so long to see the band again, but I was glad to have seen them again on this amazing tour.
I hope the band comes back next year again because they put some of the best shows I have seen.
To finish the night, it was time to see the mighty Slipknot. The last time I saw the band was after they released “The Gray Chapter” album. This was sure to be a performance and show to remember, and it was a very unpredictable and crazy night. The band opened with “Unsainted”, and as soon as the song started everybody stood up from their seats and raised their horns in the air. I was also glad to see a lot of children in the crowd, and my guess is they are kids from people that grew up listening to the band in the late 90s. Other notable songs the band played were “Disasterpiece”, “Before I Forget”, “The Heretic Anthem”, “Psychosocial” and “Wait And Bleed”. After the band finished playing “Wait And Bleed”, the lead singer Corey Taylor mentioned that on November 3rd it was going to be Mick Thompson’s birthday and the entire audience started singing “Happy Birthday” to him, which was so cool to see. During the band’s performance of “All Out Life,” the fans on the lawn started a huge bonfire and the show had to be stopped and delayed for about thirty minutes to put out the fire. That caused the band to cut their set short, and the band ended their show with one of my favorite songs “Surfacing” and that got the crowd roaring and singing the chorus lines.
The Knotfest Roadshow Tour 2021 was an amazing tour with amazing bands taking part, and I was glad to have seen it. Even though the fans got a bit crazy and started that bonfire during the Slipknot performance, nobody got hurt thankfully. One thing that the heavy metal community has that some other music genres do not, is that metal music brings people together and that we all take care of each other. I hope to see Slipknot come back to Phoenix, Arizona sooner than later so we can see another amazing performance.
