THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR COVERAGE

The Metal Tour Of The Year Day is finally here! After an absence for a year because of the pandemic it is time for Phoenix to bang their heads.

Hatebreed was the first band for the night and they brought it. Jamey Jasta, the vocalist, really got the crowd ready for what was to come. They played a lot of their hits like Perseverance, This Is Now, To The Threshold and it would not be a “Hatebreed” show if they did not play “I WILL BE HEARD”.

Trivium was the second band to play, and they upped the intensity with their set. They played a lot of their newer music, thought they should have played something from their “Ascendancy” album. But they really performed amazingly well like they always do, cannot wait for them to come back.

Lamb Of God was the next band to play. They opened their set with “Memento Mori” taken from their latest album. They took their performance to another level of intensity, and the crowd loved it. They played older and newer stuff which was awesome. Some of the songs they played were “Walk With Me In Hell” which had a lot of pyro, “Set to Fail”, “Ruin”, “Laid To Rest”, and “”Redneck”. Their performance was spectacular and they raised the bar like they always do. Randy Blythe, the vocalist, got the sold out crowd ready for Megadeth.

Megadeth, the final band to play, just ended the night like true legends. Their opening song “Hangar 18” immediately got the crowd roaring, that opening guitar riff is unmistakable. Kiko Loureiro, the guitarist, makes those guitar solos look very easy to play. They played a lot of their hits like “She-Wolf”, “Trust”, “Symphony Of Destruction” and they closed the night with “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due”. They killed it and cannot wait to hear their new album “The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!”. It was a little bit sad not seeing long time bass player Dave Ellefson in the band anymore. His replacement for this tour was James LoMenzo, that performed amazingly well since he’s been in the band before.

This tour really deserved to be called “The Metal Tour Of The Year”. All the bands were amazing and performed like true legends and the sold out crowd in Phoenix, Arizona loved every minute of it.

I would like to give a big Thank You to Cosa Nostra PR for letting me cover this amazing show.
