THE PSYCHOTHERAPY SESSIONS TOUR 2023

On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, The Psychotherapy Sessions Tour stopped in Phoenix, Arizona at The Arizona Financial Theatre. The tour lineup consisted of Mudvayne, Coal Chamber, Gwar, Nonpoint, and the Butcher Babies. When the tour was announced it was awesome to see all of those bands play together.

This was also Mudvayne’s first headlining tour since their return in 2021.

The show started with the Butcher Babies opening the show. The band opened their set with the song “Red Thunder”. The band had a few technical difficulties at the beginning of their set, but that did not bring them down. The fans even cheered them up and told them it was not their fault. Heidi, Carla, and the rest of the band members played an amazing set. Other notable songs the band played that night were “Monsters Ball”, “It’s Killin’ Time, Baby!” and the band ended with “Magnolia Blvd.”.

Nonpoint was next up onstage, they came out swinging hard with their song “Victim”. I have seen the band a few times and every time they put on one of the best performances. Like how vocalist Elias Soriano always interacts and makes the audience part of the show. The entire band is very active which makes the performance more enjoyable. The band always gives their all and the audience recognizes that. Some notable song the band played this night was “What A Day”, their new single “A Million Watts” and “Ruthless”. The band ended their set with “Bullet With A Name”, as soon as the opening guitar riff started, the entire crowd went crazy and started singing along. I cannot wait for the band to come back and play a longer set.

The third band to hit the stage was Gwar who was ready for the bloodbath to begin. The band opened up with the song “Hail, Genocide!”. You can always expect a ton of energy from the band, though this particular evening they did have their usual stage show with blood. Even though this was not their normal performance, the entire audience was still having a blast. However, I will recommend that everyone attend this show to go watch a headlining performance from the band. The band usually “slays” some type of a political office person, this night was Putin time. Some notable songs the band played were “Sick of You”, “The Cutter”, “Completely F****d”, “Let Us Slay” and “Berserker Mode”.

Coal Chamber was up next and they came out with everything they had. They opened their set with “Loco”,  and then immediately the crowd went crazy. I could not believe what I was witnessing, everyone was hyped to see Coal Chamber.  This was the first time I was seeing the band even though I have bought every album they have. This was also the bands first full tour since they disbanded in 2016. Some other notable songs the band played this night were “Big Truck”, “Fiend”, “Drove”, “Oddity” and “Sway”. I hope the band come back sooner than later. It was a pleasure seeing the band kick some butt.

Last but not least, it was time for Mudvayne to bring it. Their set’s opener was “Not Falling”, and it was awesome to see the audience go crazy. Vocalist Chad Gray went down to the pit area to be with the fans. The other band members in the band were also moving a lot throughout the stage which also makes it more fun for the audience. Personally, I am not a big fan when the band stays in one place. This night the band played songs from mostly their entire catalog. Notable songs played were  “Death Blooms”, “Dull Boy” “Fish Out Of The Water”, “World So Cold” and “Happy?”. The band also played their big hit “Dig”, as soon as the opening bass riff started the roar of the crowd was loud and the audience in the pit went crazy. I hope the band returns to Arizona sooner than later.

Finally, I would like to wish all of the bands that took place in the tour the best in their future endeavors.
