LET THE BAD TIMES ROLL TOUR 2023
On Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, The Let The Good Times Roll Tour 2023 stopped in Phoenix, Arizona at The Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater.
This particular evening was a hot one, but even with the heat, the fans came out to support live music.
The first band to take the stage was Sum 41, and the fans could not wait to see them play. They opened their set with the song “Motivation”, which got the crowd hyped up. The entire band was moving around the entire stage and interacting with the crowd, which is always awesome to see. During their set they covered Queen’s We Will Rock You, and as soon as they started playing the song the entire amphitheater lit up and were even louder than the band. Other notable songs the band played were “The Hell Song”, “Over My Head”, “In Too Deep”, “Fat Lip” and “Still Waiting”. The band did announce and confirmed that they were going to release one more record and world tour to follow and they were disbanding after that.
Simple Plan were next to take the stage, and they kept the good times rolling. I felt like I was watching them play at The Vans Warped Tour in the early 2000s. They were having so much fun on stage that everyone in the audience felt the same way they did. The band opened their set with their hit single “I’d Do Anything”, which is one of my favorite songs from their catalog. Other notable songs they performed during their set were “Addicted”, “Welcome To My Life”, “What’s New Scooby-Doo” and “I’m Just A Kid”.
Finally, it was time for The Offspring to take the stage. The band opened their set with “Come Out And Play”, as soon as the song’s beat started everyone in the audience began singing along with the band. Lead Singer Dexter Holland vocals sounded as good as their records do. It has been quite a while since the last time I saw the band in concert, and they sounded terrific. As they kept performing through the night, more and more people from the audience started singing along. The band also played other notable songs like Original Prankster”, “Want You Bad”, “Pretty Fly For A White Guy”, “Hit That”, “Hammerhead”, as well as a cover song, Ramones’ Blitzkrieg Bop. The band ended their set with the song “Self Esteem”.
I was glad to have witnessed this amazing tour with three amazing bands that gave it their all. I wish all three bands the best for the remainder of the tour and their future endeavors. Hopefully, I can catch these bands again in the future.
