“Boston To Berkeley II” U.S. Tour Featuring The Dropkick Murphys and Rancid

On this cold night in Mesa, Arizona “The Boston To Berkeley II Tour” took place at the Mesa Amphitheater.  And it was a packed night and all the bands that played put on an amazing show.

The Bronx, a band from Los Angeles was the first to take the stage and it was up to them to get the crowd pumped up for the two main acts of the night. They had a good performance and the crowd seemed to like them a lot. Before this night I had never heard of them but they really impressed me and would see them again if they ever came back to town.

The Dropkick Murphys were the second band to take the stage. I had seen them and Rancid in the early 2000s during some of the Van’s Warped Tour shows, but it has been a long time since I had seen them. I remember when I got their album “Blackout” in 2003, and that’s when I became a fan of the band. Seeing them for the second time in more than a decade got me into them even more, because they put on an amazing show. The whole band was energetic and interacted with the crowd which is always nice to see. It was also nice to see a lot of young kids at this show because someday in the future they will remember this amazing night. The band played a lot of their hits like “Johnny I Hardly Knew You”, “The State of Massachusetts”, “Rose Tattoo”, and of course it would not be a Dropkick Murphys show without their superhit “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”.

The third and final band to take the stage was Rancid, and just like Dropkick Murphys, I saw them at a Vans Warped Tour show back in the early 2000s. The song that got me into the band was “Ruby Soho”. The first album I got from them was “…And Out Come The Wolves”, and since then I became a big fan.  They were also really energetic on-stage, especially Tim Armstrong who in my opinion is an amazing singer and guitar player. Other hit songs that the band played were “Roots Radicals”, “Olympia WA”, “Salvation”, and of course the band ended their set with “Time Bomb’ and “Ruby Soho” which the crowd loved.

This show has been one of the best I have seen this year and can’t wait to see them again soon. I would like to thank Ashley from A12 Entertainment for letting me cover this show.
